Petit Tour -“Auteur Souvenirs” for museums
This is the last stage Odesilvo Atelier, SIlverio De Santis
and Odette Palombo have reached in their artistic research
to introduce a small collection of memento-objects
into the museum.
These handcrafted objects made by the artists themselves
aim to reinterpret great Italian works of art to become an original version and expression of the visited culture, a gift,
a memory to take back home; a small collection to promote t
he Italian cultural and artistic heritage.
The use of art imagery, a constant evidence of the creators’ background, reminisces over childhood, and simple gestures
as cutting, joining, pasting and making new shapes
and chromatisms.
The souvenirs are made up of old papers, books pages,
magazines and photographies , painted cut outs bonded by wood, copper and silver. Silver wires, pearls and fabrics join the paper fragments. Miniature toy characters are brought back to life,
animating a surreal world.
The various handcrafted products – pins, collages, necklaces,
hand-fans, small statues and books- can be recognised under
the same manufacturing style and are possibly inspired
by the same Italian works of art.
The collection moves away from the common concept
of merchandising and design offering a new standard of creativity, quality and sustainability.
These cultural and aesthetic values are presented in the form
of unique pieces and limited edition productions.
The main aim and research of the project is to express
the evocative and poetic character of these pieces,
assuring originality and exclusivity.
